Take in a day at the Nelson Atkins Museum

by Cindy on February 16, 2010

For Valentine’s day, we took a few hours off to enjoy the Nelson Art Museum in Kansas City! This year is their 75th Anniversary and many new artifacts were brought into the museum! What a treat! They had some outstanding items that were added to their American Indian Collection! For example:  A 18th-century Ojibwa Coat! It was just awesome! They had so many new gifts that were donated to the Museum this year!

Of course, since the museum open in 1933, they have one of the best Chinese collections! “With over 7,500 works of high quality, the Chinese collection comprises masterpieces from every historical stage and in every medium of China’s artistic activity – from Neolithic times to the 20th century.” It’s something to see to enjoy!  Whether you live here or are a visitor to the area, take the time to visit our fabulous museum!

Nelson Atkins in Kansas City

Kansas City is so fortunate to have such a quality museum for the residents and visitors of the area!  I hear it said so many times, Kansas City is the best kept secret! This is “one” of the many reasons!!
