Recently one of my long time neighbor’s daughter had called me. During our conversation we were catching up on the activities with her teaching career! This year is her 5th year as an elementary school teacher and just loving it! Somehow in our discussion, it came up that there were many kids had some economic hardships and had difficulty purchasing school supplies. Understandable in today’s economy. So of course, I asked if there could be any kind of donation to help a few of these children. I think she was taken back by my question. She wasn’t sure. But she would be happy to check into it and get back to me. Several days later, she had called and informed me that school supplies were definitely in short supply and she could get me in touch with one of the school’s counselor. I was thrilled. So I had followed up with the counselor. She had given me a list of the normal school supplies that the kids could use. I promised her that I would be back in touch within a week or so. I contacted a few of my friends &/or associates and asked if they would be open to donating a few dollars to the cause. The response was of course! So over a few days, I had collected the donations & went shopping for the kids! When I was tallying up the items, it came up with enough supplies for almost 24 students that were in 1st to 3rd grade levels! WOW! I was so thrilled! Today, I had the opportunity to deliver the package to Washington Elementary School in Olathe! Gosh, they were so excited about receiving such a neat box full of goodies! The moral of the story, it’s amazing what a person can do to inspire and help others!
